Bank of the Mountains opened its doors for business in September 1973. From its inception, Bank of the Mountains has been committed to the community and Morgan County by providing its customers with quality banking and friendly service.
After operating out of a trailer for the first year, work was completed in 1974 on a new building at the corner of Main and Court streets. The Ezel Banking Center opened in November 1983 to better serve our customers in that area. In June 1989, a spacious new building in Index was erected with a greater capacity to manage our growing institution. A two-lane drive-thru, with an additional ATM lane, was built in 2000 near the original bank building on the corner of Main and Court streets.
Bank of the Mountains has traditionally set the standard for banking innovations in this area. Bank of the Mountains was the first to offer computerized checking, club accounts, Master and Visa cards, branch banking and 24-hour computerized time/weather services. For the convenience of our customers, Bank of the Mountains resumed Saturday banking hours. Recently, we were the first to offer the ID Protection Service™, a plan that helps to protect against the threat of identity theft.
Locally owned and operated for over 35 years, Bank of the Mountains has grown to be known as one of the strongest, soundest and safest banking institutions in this area with total assets of over $65 million. Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we are always looking with an eye to the future on improving our services to the citizens of Morgan County.
